Vintage Taos Staurolite Fairy Cross Pendant Necklace in Sterling Silver
A naturally formed staurolite “fairy cross” collected in the Taos, New Mexico and set in sterling silver. Staurolite crystals are known for their remarkable natural twinning, sometimes intersecting at a 90 degree angle to form the shape of a cross; a formation traditionally known as a “fairy cross.” The Taos region of New Mexico is particularly well known for these distinctive mineral specimens.
This earthy charcoal-brown crystal retains its wonderfully rough, natural surface, and is held within a handcrafted sterling silver setting with a serrated bezel and a small decorative star detail below. The pendant has been paired with a separately sourced vintage sterling silver rope chain and a handmade sterling silver necklace bail.
-Details-
Dimensions: 20” rope chain, 2.00mm thick, pendant is ½ in. wide x 1 in. long, not including bail, bail is ~ ½ in. long
Metal: Sterling Silver, unmarked and tested
Stone: Natural Staurolite
Total Weight: 8.72 grams
Hallmark: Sterling, Marvel, on chain
Condition: This pendant necklace is in very good vintage condition. The staurolite retains its naturally rough, unpolished surface and irregular form. The sterling silver displays dark oxidation and patina consistent with age. Minor surface wear is present throughout. The crystal is secure in its setting. The vintage sterling chain and clasp are in good working condition. Pendant and chain were sourced separately and have been paired together.
A Note to Our Customers: All of our vintage or antique pieces have been loved in a previous life. Because of this, you may notice subtle signs of wear consistent with age, a soft patina, or minor surface marks. We take great care to photograph and describe each piece as accurately as possible, and will always note anything significant.
