Mid-Century Essex Crystal Equestrian Bracelet in Sterling Silver
A wonderfully detailed vintage equestrian bracelet featuring a reverse-carved and hand-painted horse intaglio, a technique commonly known as Essex crystal. The horse is carved into the reverse of the clear domed crystal, creating a 3D image when viewed from the front. Remarkably vivid painted details remain, including bright yellow reins and finely rendered features of the horse and bridle. The crystal is backed with mother-of-pearl, giving the portrait a luminous background.
The sterling silver bracelet continues the equestrian theme with stirrup-shaped links with tiny serrated treads, and elongated bar links that depict stirrup straps/fasteners. So charming!
The transparent cabochon is believed to be rock crystal based on its construction and visual examination but has not been laboratory tested.

The spring-ring clasp functions properly.
A Note to Our Customers: All of our vintage or antique pieces have been loved in a previous life. Because of this, you may notice subtle signs of wear consistent with age, a soft patina, or minor surface marks. We take great care to photograph and describe each piece as accurately as possible, and will always note anything significant.
