Late Victorian "Veuve Cliquot" Champagne Bottle Cigar Piercer Fob
A wonderfully clever, late Victorian novelty piece in the form of a miniature champagne bottle. This cigar piercer is made in mixed metals, likely steel with brass details, and is modeled as a tiny champagne bottle complete with a raised “Veuve Cliquot” label and cork-style top. A concealed spike extends from the base, transforming the piece from playful miniature to functional gentleman’s accessory.
Marked “Made in Vienna,” this piece was likely produced as a novelty object or souvenir, referencing the well-known French champagne house Veuve Clicquot. The slightly imperfect spelling only adds to its charm, a small reminder of how recognizable luxury branding had already become at the turn of the century. Originally worn as a fob on a gentleman’s watch chain, this would look equally as fantastic worn as a pendant on a necklace!
*Please note that this fob does not come with a chain.
-Details-
Dimensions: 2 ½ inches tall x ½ inch wide
Metal: Steel and brass
Total Weight: 16.44 grams
Condition: This piece is in good condition. The retractable piercer functions properly. The steel and brass surfaces show age-related wear, patina, and minor discoloration consistent with use. The raised label remains legible. The suspension ring is intact. There appears to be a small chip in the metal plating on the inside of the piercing barrel (see photo).
A Note to Our Customers: All of our vintage or antique pieces have been loved in a previous life. Because of this, you may notice subtle signs of wear consistent with age, a soft patina, or minor surface marks. These pieces have a lived-in character that comes with time. We take great care to photograph and describe each piece as accurately as possible, and will always note anything significant. These small imperfections are part of what makes each piece unique and are a reflection of its history and the life it has already lived.
